In this video, I go though the process of cleaning up your bookmarks bar in Safari. This will help cut down on the visual clutter on your desktop and keep you more focused. I also show you a few tricks and keyboard commands to help bookmark your favorite sites on Delicious and Instapaper instead of in your browser.
Sites Mentioned in the Video

Instapaper

Another great idea also is to sync your bookmarks across all your pc´s or browsers! and have all online to acces it from anywhere with Xmarks!
Check out Xmarks for firefox, safari and IE.
Finally!
Waiting for that.
You have really great stuff but your gay little hand waves and smiles at the end kill me.

hehe. Yeah, it’s silly. Maybe I can think of a more “Manly” end tag for this site. How about Muscle Flexing at the end? Thoughts?
…did you say “kabamzies” !?

Wha?
Fantastic. Simple and to the point. Thanks for sharing it
Hey, it seems that the cmd+1 short cut works on the first actual bookmark that is on the bar level. In other words, if you have folders and then a bookmark, it will open that bookmark.
Great stuff – thanks!
Did I see you perfectly centering your Safari window?
Other people do that? Wow.

Yeah, Kind of a freak here, sorry.
Great tips! I gotta check out instapaper.
It’s absolutely amazing how productivity/organizational freaks are ultimately unable to brush their teeth without detailed instructions.
I guess I’m mostly just angry that 12 minutes of my life has been wasted on footage of some guy going through his old bookmarks. Other than the mention of instapaper, the whole video is pretty much pointless; at the very least RSS readers could have gotten a mention.
Seriously, someone please tell me how changing a bookmark’s name to just three characters is somehow more productive/faster?
And while the ability to hide the bookmark bar is neat, isn’t just hiding it instead of actually whittling it down a primary source of problems in the first place? Here’s a better clue about not having “unsightly bookmarks”: don’t add any in the first place genius.
This basically reminds me of folks who buy ever stupid “Get Things Done” software under the sun and are so proud to create yet another to do list, but never actually do anything to make them shorter. Oy vey.

Sorry I couldn’t help you out more, Fort. So far, this tip has been great for me to stop checking my bookmarks and stay focused. Sure, the step by step may have been overboard, but some people just want to watch somebody do it rather than read a Help article.
I hope to win you over with a more substantial video soon.
What’s that Finder plugin in the Save dialog box?

It’s called Default Folder X. It’s the BEST! I talk about it a bit in this video.

Great! Thanks a lot.
I’ve actually given up on bookmarks, for the most part. I stick primarily to using Google Reader for just about everything now.
Your friend inspired me to give up on boockmarks and just track important stuff I have visited with apple+1 to delicious.
My bookmarks bar tends to get a bit full from time to time. I usually save them when I plan to check when I get a bit of free time, and anything else worth saving long term goes straight to my delicious bookmarks.
Thanks for sharing.
